Her Story

Iliana Mejia

My name is Iliana Mejia and I am 21 years old. I am currently in my last year of my undergraduate degree at Marymount Manhattan college, where I am studying Politics and Human Rights/International Studies. After graduating, I am hoping to find work in the field of Youth advocacy and policy development.

My primary research relates to the field of Education for women and girls in crisis affected areas as well as persons with disabilities. Throughout my life, I have worked in a variety of different sectors including corporate, City government, ngos, and small businesses. During my work, I am grateful to have worked alongside many strong and capable women who have been mentors to me at various stages of my life. journey. They have taught me the importance that comes with intergenerational dialogue.

I think it is important for young women and girls to find a community of other women who are able to both uplift their voices, while also providing them with guidance along the way. I feel that the work Mothers and Daughters is doing creates meaningful and long-lasting change in the lives of young women and girls, and I would be grateful to be part of the team that assists in creating these opportunities.
